IronManWife August 22, 2010 Linetta J. Harris (San Antonio, TX United States) My husband has used Accelerade for 2 years now and loves it. His body responds better to this than gatorade or a regular electrolite drink. He recently tried the Protein Fruit Punch and loves it. It does stain the bottles, but I immediately put them in the dishwasher and have had no problems.
Love it June 29, 2010 FABULOUS We love the Accelerade Protein Fruit Punch Sport Drink Powder!!! It's great before, during and after workouts! Would highly recommend this product especially if you workout a lot!
Something good to mix it with May 21, 2010 E. Maxwell (In a Frozen Land) I just purchased and tried the Accerlerade Fruit Punch and I mixed it with a Fruit Punch Powerade ZERO. It makes it a little thicker but tastes alot along the lines of Hawaiian Punch so way more tolerable then with just water. You get all the good stuff in Accelerade (the Vitamin C & E, Protein) along with the added Powerade bennies of B Vitamins, electrolytes and no calories. The good thing too is that Powerade ZERO comes in pretty much all the same flavors that Accelerade does so you can mix them all and get past the bad taste that other reviewers have talked about. I am using this on the P90X workout and though this is the first day I've tried it I am happy to have it along with me for the ride!
Try it before you buy it if possible. May 17, 2010 M. Erb (Syracuse, NY) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm a cyclist and have been using Cytomax CytoSport Cytomax Sport Energy Drink Mix, Tangy Orange, 4.5-Pound Jar for several years. I thought I'd give Accelerade a try and wish I had had the chance to actually taste it before making my purchase. As it turns out I took a chance and got the 4.11lb, Mountain Berry flavor and am not liking it at as well as the Cytomax. One thing I quickly discovered is that if you mix it too weak, it is really bad tasting. Be sure to use the full recommended measure of accelerade, if not a bit more.
There are significant differences in the ingredients of these two products as well.
Accelerade uses Sucrose as its main ingredient whereas Cytomax uses Fructose.
Accelerade has 190mg of Sodium per serving vs 80mg in Cytomax.
Accelerade has 65mg Potassium per serving vs 150mg in Cytomax.
Accelerade has 20g of sugars per serving vs 11g in Cytomax.
Accelerade has 5g of Protein per serving vs 0g in Cytomax.
There are other differences as well.
For me, I much prefer Cytomax. I don't know how you feel abut Fructose vs Sucrose, but some would say that Fructose is preferable to Sucrose particularly in how the body metabolizes the two.
It is unlikely that I would buy Accelerade again.
Accelerade Mountain Berry review April 22, 2010 John J. Mcgarry Great flavor and it serves as an excellent recovery beverage after loooooong bike rides. Like most supplements, it tends to really crap up my camelback if I don't rinse it out promptly, but that is to be expected.
